NYS Chapter Board of Directors and Officers |
The New York State Chapter has a Board of Directors (the Board) and chapter officers (the Officers).
The Board normally consists of eighteen voting members. At times the number of Board members can be slightly less due to resignations and not having members that meet the qualifications to hold the position.
Honorary Board Members: The position of Honorary Board Director is established to recognize experienced directors who desire to participate and serve the board, without the ability to vote, but to provide leadership, and valuable knowledge base to the board. Requirements for appointment include those for voting board members, and that the appointee must have served a minimum of 4 terms (8 years) on New York State Chapter Board of Directors. The president may submit Honorary Director appointment recommendations to the board for approval. A majority of 2/3rds of the board is required for approval. Honorary positions are reviewed and brought before the board for approval at the Annual meeting following an election every 2 years. Such appointments would enjoy all rights and privileges as regular board members with the exception of holding an officer's position, and the right to cast a vote on issues brought before the board. |
|
Officers: |
|
The Officers consist of a President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and a Corresponding Secretary. No Chapter President or Vice President may serve in his or her position for more than two consecutive terms (Four years). All Officers and members of the Board must be at least twenty-one years of age and must be members of this State Chapter during their entire terms of office. |
|
Terms of Office: |
|
All members of the Board and Officers shall serve concurrent two-year terms, or until the newly elected Directors or Officers take office, whichever is later. |
|
Dates of the Term of Office: |
|
The commencement dates for each two-year term of office for the Board and its Officers shall be the same, and shall be established by the Board. After the dates for the terms of office have been established, any changes in them may not go into effect until such time that a review and agreement can be made by the Executive Team (Board Officers). This will require notification to the Board and Local Chapter Presidents at least three months prior to the election date change. |
|
Board candidate qualifications: |
Board of Director candidates must meet the following qualifications prior to nomination:
1. Three consecutive years as a member in good standing in the NWTF prior to nomination.
2. Attended a minimum of four (4) Board meetings over a two-year period immediately prior to nomination.
3. Must have held a leadership position at the local Chapter level, e.g., President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Fund Raiser Chairman, Jakes Event Chairman, etc.
Nominations to the Board may be made by any New York State Local Chapter by submitting a letter of endorsement & nomination to the Nominating Committee, postmarked by the date set forth in the New York State News letter and publications, along with a petition signed by at least twenty-five New York State NWTF members
Local chapters are entitled to endorse or nominate one new candidate in any given election (2 year term) for board of directors. Chapters with two or more existing directors (State Board Director or Honorary Board Director) on the board may not submit new candidates until such time that director(s) representing the chapter retire, step down, or removed from the board, and the number or directors representing the local chapter is 1 or 0. |
